Thank you, Jessica. I agree with your reasoning that nothing will budge MAGA. This scandal should disgust other Trump voters who supported him (inexplicably) out of political expediency. It should also activate some voters who (inexplicably) stayed home in 2024. That's the sliver of hope I cling to, anyway.
Trump has played this badly. He sold so many people on the idea that Jan6 was justified because he really won the 2020 election, and never varied from that. But he can find a way out of this. Even if good ol’ boy say that rape is a woman’s fault, and that police have to shoot Black men because they’re scary, they can’t publicly take a stand in favor of deflowering a 13 year old, even if she looks 15.
Trump got caught in his biggest lie of all, and every Republican is already part of the coverup.
He tried to overthrow the government and nothing was done.
He will walk away from this, too.
