For bug out bags, can you discuss carrying weights? I’m older and know others who have some disabilities. Lots to process, but just a thought. Thank you, JW!

Really great work, Jessica!

FWIW I’d be happy to proofread anything you’ve got pro bono — enlightened self-interest + a desire to support your efforts on behalf of all SIs.

Definitely. I need to start posting PDFs so people can mark any typos, etc.

We had simas in Tonga at my site to collect rain water. Big above ground concrete tanks with filters. Different sites had their own needs, but even when USAID was functional, it took a long time to get a grant or get parts. No zip codes in Tonga, and very few businesses will ship to a place with no zip codes. The parts I needed to fix a generator, it took over a year, and we had to find them in a junkyard. In NYC you could walk and buy them in five minutes.

People are too easily offended by reality. You write about anything uncomfortable--and this frightens me the most--they wait for an attack, and then thank the attacker for thinking for them.

It annoyed and continues to annoy a lot of people--especially the drums and the penny whistles--but the guitar and singing has saved my ass. You find a good spot, you can make decent money. I know this is a tangent, but why is writing, playing music, acting, so frowned upon when you want to do it? I've lost girlfriends who liked the end product, but couldn't stand the amount of practice it took to get further.

Great article. Hope you and yours are doing well.

We're doing all right. Slammed, but that's better than other situations. I agree, a lot of people like the end product but they can't handle the process.

This is really nice, if you're serious about rainwater, understanding how to estimate collection per annum and roof area/storage needed, as well as info on first flush diverters etc is available from this free to share resource https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yWIHOALI37sf01gvrpGbjMC4bTKjozDI/view?usp=sharing

Brac in Croatia has some Dew Harvesting Prototypes with passive cooling Roofs and Lotus 🪷 surfaces. Currently Cakti surfaces and Electric Charge is most efficient but be aware you need a lot of Air passing the Structure.

I'm so grateful for all you're doing, and totally annoyed that you lost subscribers because why? You had an image of a young woman with big hair building a rain harvesting thing? I LOVED that image! Because it said any of us (even this menopausal middle-aged woman with short hair that's always sticking up) can do it. Anyhoo, I'm here for it. For all of it. Thanks again!

I'm not sure I subscribe to any ideology anymore, "leftist" or otherwise. "Leftists" have been some of the worst people I've encountered, as bad as MAGA.
